Diesel Engine
Shop
We have been rebuilding diesel engines since 1947 and know how to
build them to last. General Motors EMD 567 - 645 & 710 engines
are our specialty. We also specialize in EMD-265H and GE-7HDL-16,
6000 horsepower engines. CEECO has performed service and warranty
repairs as authorized by EMD for a variety of projects. CEECO is an
authorized parts purchaser, so only the best new or remanufactured
parts go into each locomotive and engine repair.
Our well-equipped machine shop allows us to control quality and
costs in-house. All tolerances are brought within EMD Factory Maintenance
Instructions for exact measurements for maximum service life. Tools,
gauges and micrometers are calibrated more frequently than AAR requirements
to ensure quality results. All work is completed to a documented
process that has quality check points at specific sections to ensure
that all work completed and signed for by technicians is correct
and complete. It is this commitment and attention to detail that
make CEECO engines and engine components the best that money can
buy in the industry.

and Inspection:
- On disassembly, all parts to be reused are carefully inspected
to qualify for the rebuild.
- Hot tanking cleaning and magna-flux crack inspections of the
block, cylinder heads and other critical components are completed
in house.
- Precision laser measurement of the block and crank main bore
alignment.
- Check connecting rods for twist and deflection.
- All measurement and inspection results are documented in engine
build up sheets and reviewed by shop manager and QA manager for
determination of results and necessary repair procedures to ensure
a quality product when rebuilding process is complete.
Rebuilding and Assembly:
- Welding and machining of cracks and out of limit wear areas
to OEM dimensions as specified in Maintenance Instructions (MI).
- Re-establish cylinder liner pilot bores.
- Re-cut bearing receiver grooves in main bearing caps if line

Engine Testing and Horsepower Documentation:
Engines
are load-tested in our test cell or in the locomotive. All temperatures,
pressures, and engine performance data is recorded on engine test
forms for review by shop manager and QA manager. All testing requirements
